Weeks 36 and 37 proved to be quite challenging. My nursing office has been a revolving door of students with all different kinds of illnesses, flu-like symptoms, pink eye, stomach viruses and coxsackie just to name a few!. I have an excellent immune system so I don't usually pick up what is going around. But because I am constantly breathing in the germs and my weakness is my sinuses, I came down with a sinus infection. Let me tell you, being sick in the third trimester is very uncomfortable! I had to tough this one out with no antibiotics. After 2 weeks of rest, saline nasal rinses and a little Tylenol here and there, I finally beat it. It took a toll on my training and I was only able to get in one workout each week. The rest must have paid off because I hit yet another pregnancy PR, a 100 pound strict press! This was a 10 pound PR and I was totally excited to hit triple digits.
At 38 weeks I was feeling much better and ready to get back to the gym. I had been WODing from home for a while now and missed my friends and the whole atmosphere of a CrossFit box. It just so happens that a new box was opening up, Unbeaten CrossFit. The owner, Tommy, happens to be the Coach who gave me my first class ever. So I, along with a few other friends checked it out. Tommy and the other coaches welcomed my very pregnant self and trusted me in my ability to scale the WODs appropriately. I found my new CF home! I continued my 3 days on 1 day off that I had been doing before I got sick. I completed my last WOD, a scaled version of Fran (55# thrusters and ring rows), the day before my due date.
The waiting game has set in. I am 1 day past my due date and getting more and more antsy and excited to meet Ryley. I decided to put my CF membership on hold and save my strength for the big day, whenever that may be. I can't wait to begin this new adventure. The next time you hear from me I will be a mom!
